CENTRIA Delivers Striking Aesthetics for M1 Concourse Event Center and Restaurant

Detroit, MI

M1 Concourse broke ground on 87 acres of historic property in Pontiac, Michigan, which was once home to a General Motors manufacturing facility.

In efforts to create one of the world’s largest garage communities, M1 Concourse is the epicenter for all things automotive in the Metropolitan Detroit area. The property features a 1.5-mile performance racetrack, a two-story, 28,500-square-foot event center and restaurant, and more than 250 individually owned garages.

To carry out the automotive theme across the property, a custom-designed building envelope was necessary for the M1 restaurant. CENTRIA IMPs were the ideal choice, providing an all-in-one solution while maintaining the desired aesthetic.

Racing to the Restaurant

The project team installed 8,000 square feet of  CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series in Black Silver with custom orange accent reveals to create the appearance of a race car stripe.

Formawall combines design freedom with unmatched performance by consolidating six wall components into one, ultimately reducing waste and simplifying installation. Manufactured with halogen free foam, Formawall enhances sustainability and long-term building performance. Additionally, Formawall is the perfect fit to integrate into custom aluminum designed and fabricated panels.

“This was a value-added option because it provided an entire wall system without requiring a backup system, which helped keep the overall costs low,” said Brandon Kinsey, district sales manager, CENTRIA. “With the Formawall panels, we were also able to create the sleek, smooth look that the architect was striving for.”

Crews also installed 4,500 sq. ft. of Versawall in Black Silver. Versawall adds versatility and flexibility to design options with long lengths and various finish options. Manufactured with a factory-applied panel joint sealant, Versawall creates an air and vapor barrier that provides outstanding weather resistance.

Crossing the Finish Line

M1 Concourse opened in September 2021, which coincided with the Inaugural American Festival of Speed and Checkered Flag Ball.
